Real Madrid-Borussia Dortmund: Asensio returns, Kroos rested

Real Madrid host Borussia Dortmund at the Santiago Bernabéu in the final round of Champions League Group H games tonight (20:45 CET).

Marco Asensio has returned to the Real Madrid squad for tonight's Champions League Group H meeting with Borussia Dortmund, while head coach Zinedine Zidane has opted to rest Toni Kroos.

Bale out, Kroos rested, Asensio over injury

As expected, Gareth Bale is not involved in the clash at the Bernabéu, having missed the weekend LaLiga draw with Athletic Bilbao with an ongoing calf problem.

In his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, Zidane revealed that the Welshman might be back for Saturday's league meeting with Sevilla, and will be fit to travel to Abu Dhabi for this month's Club World Cup.

After recovering from a pelvis injury, Asensio is included in a Real squad for the first time since Los Blancos' Champions League win at APOEL two weeks ago.

Carvajal banned, Vallejo and Hakimi left out

Dani Carvajal is suspended and Zidane has again chosen to leave out Jesús Vallejo and Achraf Hakimi, but Marcos Llorente returns to the matchday group.

Real Madrid squad to face Borussia Dortmund:

Goalkeepers: Navas, Casilla.

Defenders: Ramos, Varane, Nacho, Marcelo, Theo.

Midfielders: Modric, Casemiro, Llorente, Asensio, Isco, Kovacic, Ceballos.

Forwards: Cristiano, Benzema, Vázquez, Mayoral.
